The UN Secretary-General established in 2010 the High-level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP) in order to formulate a new blueprint for sustainable development and low-carbon prosperity. This publication constitutes the Panel’s report, “Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing,” recommendations designed to put sustainable development into practice and to mainstream it into economic policy.
It is a significant contribution to the agenda of sustainable development for a common future, and also provides a timely contribution to the preparations for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) in Brazil, in June 2012. The 22 members of the Panel included current and former heads of state and government, ministers, and representatives of the private sector and civil society. It was co-chaired by the President of Finland Tarja Halonen and the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma.
